Dave + Amy Byers
Dave Byers, President and AO of Slicker Trucking, Inc., is a FedEx CSP & TSPA, is known nationally for commanding a seat at the table. Forging relationships where respect and communication opens up change has been key for David and Slicker Trucking, Inc.
Dave, now a many-time-over FedEx award winner, started his FedEx journey as a package handler while attending The Ohio State University. His entrepreneurial spirit started young, as he worked his way up to lead and switcher in just a short time. In 2006 he was asked by a friend to come work as a driver during the peak delivery season in a rural area in Northeast Ohio. One year later, David invested in his own FedEx Home Delivery route and started Slicker Trucking, LLC as “1 man - 1 van”, later to become Slicker Trucking, Inc.
David’s entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to the business and his employees is based on his faith and the company’s core values of Honesty, Integrity and Commitment to People. On any given day you will still find David at a terminal, looking over maps with drivers and even under a truck fixing headlights, setting the example that Slicker Culture starts at the top. Dave runs two not-for-hire fleet repair shops that solely service the Slicker fleet. Dave and Amy are also the proud owners of Ohio Valley Pizza Company™ and Hokulia Shave Ice™.
Amy started her career in marketing and technology in 1993. She worked for national food brands, committed a decade to her own marketing firm and spent many years working in gaming and compliance for a vendor of The Ohio Lottery. In 2017, when Dave purchased a large linehaul operation, Amy formally joined the Slicker Trucking team full time.
Today, Amy serves as Chief Operating Officer of Slicker Trucking Inc., but don’t let the lashes, long nails and cowboy boots fool you; Amy works directly with the company’s compliance and legal partners, with FedEx management, and is known for being the resident number cruncher and compliance expert.
Amy relies heavily on her faith to guide her daily decisions. Amy brings her “big company” experience to the “family owned business” model that she and David have built and manage today.
